At the heart of Chingola’s copper belt, Mimbula Minerals Limited, a subsidiary of Moxico Resources Plc, is powering Zambia’s mining renaissance. Officially launched in December 2022, the Mimbula Copper Project has rapidly advanced from first production to commercial sales, marking a proud milestone celebrated by President Hakainde Hichilema in early 2023.
Equipped with a state-of-the-art SX-EW plant producing 10,000 tonnes of copper cathode annually, Mimbula stands as a symbol of modern, responsible mining — blending innovation, environmental stewardship, and community impact.
Beyond copper production, Mimbula is transforming lives through education scholarships, healthcare initiatives, youth sports sponsorships, and water and sanitation projects — all rooted in its strong commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.
As a major employer in Chingola, the company continues to empower local communities through skills development, graduate training, and digital innovation, preparing Zambia’s next generation of mining professionals.
With a clear growth strategy to scale up production to 56,000 tonnes per annum and align with Zambia’s national vision of 3 million tonnes by 2031, Mimbula Minerals is not just mining copper — it’s mining opportunity, growth, and a sustainable future.
Mimbula Minerals Limited, a subsidiary of Moxico Resources Plc, officially commenced extraction operations at the Mimbula Copper Project in December 2022 with the launch of Phase 1 — a heap leach and solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX/EW) plant designed to produce 10,000 tonnes of copper cathode annually.
This milestone was followed by first production in late 2022, commercial sales in early 2023, and a ceremonial mine opening graced by President Hakainde Hichilema in March 2023.
Strategically located near other major copper operations in Chingola, Copperbelt Province, the Mimbula Mine is part of Zambia’s new wave of modern mining operations, leveraging innovative technologies, world-class engineering, and sustainable development practices.
